Price: $20 for members/$25 for non-members Ages: 6 and up Description: Explore the habitat of local scorpions and tarantulas along the north face of Mount Diablo, starting at the Mitchell Canyon Visitor Center. Experience the excitement of finding scorpions glowing like green neon signs in the dark. Led by our experienced naturalist, participants will look for local tarantulas as these eight-legged creatures explore beyond their burrows in search of a mate. Hikes cover a distance of 2 miles. Dates and times: Saturday, September 19th, 6:15 p.m. – 8:15 p.m. – Only 3 spots left! Sunday, September 20th, 6:15 p.m. – 8:15 p.m. Saturday, September 26th, 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Sunday, September 27th, 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. – Only 2 spots left! Saturday, October 3rd, 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. – Only 4 spots left! Sunday, October 4th, 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Bring: Hiking shoes, a bottle of water, and a jacket. An ultraviolet flashlight is optional. Price per person: $20 for members/$25 for non-members. Additional cost: $6 parking at the Visitor’s Center (exact change required). Please note: Pre-registration for this hike is required for each member of your party. Price is per individual, not per group. Registration is cut off the Wednesday before the program, we do not offer day-of ticket sales for hikes. Please reach out to the Education Registrar for any questions.
